    PARTS FAQs

Here's some hard-to-find parts information culled from my research and from postings to the Anniversary GT350 e-mail newsletter list.

    T-top weatherstrip OEM numbers:

Front/quarter pillar post and t-top to body (runs all around the t-top from front to back window). Also requires that you replace the door-body weatherstrip on 1984s:

    RH: E7ZZ-06154780-A

    LH: E7ZZ-06154781-A

    Body to door weatherstrip:

    F3ZZ-06120708-A

    T-top to window:

    RH: E2ZZ-06620710-A

    LH: E2ZZ-06620711-A

Felt with rubber bead (front and rear where t-top meets roof line)

    E1ZZ-06650080-A

All the above parts are available (generally as repros) from the major mail order catalogs.

Dashpads and covers: Original, complete dashpads and covers sell for $450 to $600. Just Dashes in Van Nuys, Calif., sells restorations for about $400: 800-247-3274. Mustang Service Center in North Hollywood, Calif., sells new dashpads for about $600 and used for about $400.

Many of the major mail order parts catalogs (Texas Mustang, Late Model Restoration, Mustangs Unlimited, etc.), sell repro dashpads for about $190.

If you want just a dash cover (which fits seamlessly over the top of the dashpad -- you can't even tell it's there) try Dashpad Store, 7147 University Avenue, La Mesa, Calif. (619-469-9393). They sold me a dash cover (and even painted it) for $90 including shipping about three years ago. Another company that makes dash covers is Coverlay in San Angelo, Texas; 800-633-7090. And many of the major mail order parts catalogs (Texas Mustang, Late Model Restoration, Mustangs Unlimited, etc.), sell dash covers for anywhere from $50 to $70, but you have to paint them yourself.

Upholstery material: When I was looking for replacement upholstery material when my driver's seat was rebuilt, I came up empty-handed. Everyone carries the gray Mustang seat covers; our Canyon Red with pinstripping was 1984 only and I couldn't find anyone who stocked it. The folks at Texas Mustang and Late Model Restoration said they could make a set for me; Late Model Restoration even sent me samples. They were close in color but lacked the thin striping of the original. Price: $319 front seats, $419 full set. I ended up going to my local upholstery shop and was able to track down a fabric very close to the original, and I had him do it. I subsequently found out about SMS Auto Fabrics, which sells (from the sample they sent me) what appears to be OEM material at about $79 yard. Wish I had known about them a year ago. SMS is in Portland, Oregon; 503-234-1175.

Bumper Covers: Automotive Bumper Distributors Inc. of Lumberton, NC, carries a complete line of Mustang bumper covers, including hard-to-find front ($270) and rear ($125) for 1984 Mustangs. Their phone is 910-738-9350.

20th Anniversary Badges: Gene Shepler of Washington, PA, still has a supply of repro 20th Anniversary Badges. The price is $42 each or $77 the pair. He can be reached at mustsaly@comcast.net

Headliners: Most of the major mail order catalogs stock replacement headliner kits. Texas Mustang shows a complete Headliner Kit for $45.00 in canyon red (E4RR LMHEADLI-CRD). Late Model Restoration Supply sells their LRS-1805 headliner kit for $49.00; that same kit at Mustangs Unlimited is $39.95.

Vinyl dye: The vinyl dye for the 84 Mustang is still available from Ford: Medium Canyon Red:

    M4JZ-M547 4158H

NOS thin red moldings: Contact: Gene Shepler at mustsaly@comcast.net

Wiring harnesses: Alloy Metal Products. P.O. Box 2, 193 U.S. Route 11, Central Square, NY 13036. Attn.: Ken. 315-676-2405. axellink@aol.com.
